古代罗马历史学家李维:“我们在逆境中生存，却在安逸中腐烂。”

Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time

是由文艺复兴时期意大利布朗兹诺(Agnolo Bronzino, 1503-72)1545年的作品。这幅画可能是由当时最有影响的商人麦迪茨(Cosimo Ide Medici)订作创造的，是送给法国国王弗朗西斯的礼物。据文艺复兴时期的艺术史学家维萨里(Vasari)描述，这幅画是表现性的快感刺激和其中所隐含的危险。
画中的两个主要人物维纳斯和丘比特(以神来表现人)是母子关系，所以很容易令人想到乱伦。

维纳斯左手拿一个金苹果(在<<巴黎裁决>>那幅画里，巴黎把金苹果判给了美丽神维娜斯)，右手持丘比特箭。儿子丘比特画成是即将成年的少年，正与维纳斯感受爱的经历。右下角的两个面罩，应该是丘比特和维纳斯摘下的面罩。古代和现代都有乱伦，在他们的游戏中，男女都戴假面具。画的右边是两个孩子，一个男孩表现得欢愉亢奋，女孩表情好奇羡寐。
